🎹 Kawai KDP75: What's New? 2024 Review & Demo of Kawai KDP-75 Digital Piano 🎹
Description

Product Overview

Kawai’s KDP series emerged in the late 2010s as a category leader, topping sales of similarly-priced Yamaha, Roland, and Casio models in multiple markets worldwide. Following the blow-out success of the KDP110 and KDP70 models, Kawai has followed them up with the Kawai KDP120 and KDP75 model releases which both follow the same formula as their predecessors but with welcomed and high-value upgrades.

For the first time, Kawai has included the 88-note SK-EX sampled concert grand piano in a sub-$1000 USD digital piano, making it one of the most sophisticated and high-quality piano tone generators in this price category on the planet. And a maximum polyphony of 192 means that no style of playing will ever tax the processor to the point where sound quality is compromised.

They’ve also equipped it with USB connections, two finish options, an improved action, headphone EQ technology, and expanded onboard educational materials.

For those seeking an authentic piano playing experience on a budget, look no further than the KDP75 from Kawai.

Keyboard Action

The piano keyboard action is their RHC (Responsive Hammer Compact Keyboard Action), which can also be found in the ES110. However, this 2nd generation features improved cushioning for a more comfortable and authentic playing experience. It’s fully touch-sensitive and properly weighted to simulate an acoustic piano, which means that new piano students young and old will feel entirely comfortable beginning their journey on the KDP75 – and teachers will feel as equally comfortable recommending it.

The keys are micro-textured and easy to clean, and a built-in key cover ensures that dust stays out when not in use.

Players can also adjust the touch curve to simulate a lighter or heavier key, depending on playing style.

Sound/Tone & Connectivity

Just like the KDP120, the KDP75 uses the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Concert Grand (in full 88-key sampling), as its primary acoustic piano tone, though there are 4 others to choose from in addition to it. There are a total of 15 tones altogether, with a well-rounded selection of acoustic & electric pianos, organs, strings, pads, harpsichords, and vibraphone.

The piano specifically uses the Harmonic Imaging technology engine, Kawai’s trademark processor that’s been in development since the early 2000s.

The earphone / headphone technology onboard ensures that players receive a perfect binaural experience whether they’re using earbuds, closed, or open-type headphones.

Along with the KDP120, the KDP75 is now also compatible with Kawai’s PianoRemote app, using its USB-MIDI connectivity port. With the use of an appropriate cable, players can connect a tablet or phone in either iOS/Android to alter and customize the piano tone as well as select other sounds and features.

The USB port also permits connections with personal computers, giving expanded functionality through a wide range of 3rd party apps like Skoove, Flowkey, Yousician, and PiabookPlayer Apps.
