Weather we know it or not, music plays a large, and important role in our everyday lives. We wake up to it, work to it, walk to it, drive to it, cook to it, we even fall asleep to it. Music has the power to make us feel better when we are down, bring back old memories, and even transport you to another world.

For example, most of us have a radio. My parents have one in the kitchen at their house, which for as far back as I can remember, my mother would turn on and dance around the kitchen while she cooked. It gave her a rhythm to cook to. It could be on this simple of a level for some of us, but music plays a part in all of our lives to some extent. Music can define a certain point in your life as well. Such as a sad song you listened to on repeat after a first break up, or the song that was playing when you had your first kiss, or a playlist that your friend made when you had the best summer of your life.

For musicians, music is an outlet. It is a form of expression used to convey emotion. Weather it is to get across a feeling of happiness, sadness, or anything in between, music the medium used to have it heard. Artists also use music as a way to get a message heard. This is often done with political issues, and is currently being done with many artists regarding the Palestine/Gaza issues.

Music can be as little as a beat that you walk, (or cook) to, or as big as a therapeutical way of letting people know how you feel. Either way, music is indeed a part of everyone’s life…weather you realize it or not!
