Yamaha Grand Piano – Rebuilt Model G2:
The Yamaha Piano Company started building pianos in 1887 and along with Kawai is considered the largest piano manufacture in the world. Yamaha grand piano models were always considered good quality and are a popular choice for music schools, universities, and even concert venues. Since the 1970’s Yamaha did a very good job of convincing popular artists such as Elton John, Diana Krall, and more to play on Yamaha grand piano models. This was a very important move in the growth of the Yamaha company and has sold thousands of Yamaha grand piano models around the world.
The 1960’s were a time when Japan was going through major economic changes and was growing at a rate never seen before. Both Kawai and Yamaha were positioned to become strong companies and soon became the largest manufactures or upright and grand pianos in the world. The used Yamaha grand piano G2 model was the first big hit for a Japanese grand piano in the North America and sold by the hundreds. Throughout the years there were many design changes to this model to improve the quality of sound and stability of the tuning. The used Yamaha grand piano G2 also was the first small Yamaha grand piano to feature the duplex scaling which at the time was only found in larger higher end pianos such as the Steinway grand or Mason & Hamlin.
MERRIAM pianos has always been known for it’s selection of new instruments but since the 1990’s we have added used and rebuilt pianos to our offering to offer customers more choice. Our workshop in North Toronto features a fully professional rebuilding facility with precision tools, and paint booth, and a team of master craftsman all with complementary skills. Each Yamaha grand piano G2 model that is rebuilt is carefully selected to ensure the major components such as the soundboard, bridges, and frame are still in excellent shape. We then replace the strings and tuning pins, refinish the cabinet and soundboard, and do a refurbishing of the action components to ensure good performance.
