WM Knabe was founded in 1835 by the accomplished piano builder Wilhelm Knabe. Shortly after launching his business of buying, selling, and repairing pianos, Knabe partnered with Henry Gaehle and the company transitioned into building their own high-quality upright, grand, and square pianos, which received numerous awards. The tradition of these celebrated instruments has been perpetuated by the Samick Music Corporation’s WM Knabe line.
Knabe KV142 SW Upright Piano
The WM Knabe WV142 is a 42” continental-style upright piano produced in Samick’s Indonesia factory. Samick’s WM Knabe line is divided into three tiers: Baltimore (WV), Academy (WMV), and Concert (WKV). The WV142 is part of the Baltimore series. While the Baltimore series is WM Knabe’s entry level line, this is far from an entry level piano given the impressive list of specs and features.
This particular WV142 is finished in an attractive satin walnut and features an all spruce surface-tension soundboard, hard rock maple bridges, sand cast plate, German Roslau strings, and an all maple action with an aluminum rail. The culmination of these features that more closely resemble those of a much higher end instrument leads to an excellent sounding and playing instrument.
The new owner of this wonderful WM Knabe WV142 console piano will be rewarded with a fantastic musical experience that is complemented by an attractive aesthetic.
