Both companies have been known for building consistently good quality piano since the 1970’s. Kawai is one of the few larger companies that are still operated by the Kawai family in Japan with the current owner Hirotaka Kawai leading the company. Used Kawai K3 upright piano models and others are generally hard to find. Family ownership in a business has it’s advantages and has served Kawai well over it’s almost 90 years in business.

The Kawai K3 upright piano is considered one of the top selling upright pianos in the world. It was the first upright under $10000 that featured a fully composite carbon fiber action. Some of the other great features on the Kawai K3 include a extra long bass string, a very consistent and even scale design, a soft fall fallboard, and a solid sitka spruce soundboard. Since it’s released in 2006 the Kawai K3 upright piano has been at the top of the list for college and university practice rooms, teaching studios, and fine homes around the world.

This used Kawai K3 upright piano was originally purchased by our store in 2013. It’s very hard to find a used Kawai K3 upright piano in Toronto since most people keep the model and rarely sell it. Also since this model has only been around for around 10 years, they still haven’t been passed to the next generation and therefore are not usually available.
