Theodore August Heintzman is the founder of Canada’s most famous and celebrated piano company: Heintzman & Company. After emigrating to New York from Berlin in 1850, he eventually found his way to Toronto, where he founded his piano firm in 1866. As a result of the company’s high-quality craftsmanship and consistency, Heintzman’s reputation grew, which eventually led to them being called the “Steinway of the North”. While Canadian manufacturing ceased in the 1980s, the Heintzman name was later resurrected by investors and manufacturing was moved to China.
This Heintzman 168A piano is a wonderful medium grand that is finished in a traditional ebony polish. It has a bold voice as one would expect from a piano with a North American heritage. A clear, powerful bass and musical upper register is what you will discover upon playing this gorgeous instrument. The 5’7” size of the Heintzman makes it an excellent choice for a player that has limited space, but wants a tonal and dynamic range that is more akin to a 6’+ piano.
This Heintzman 168A grand piano is a fantastic opportunity for an economical customer that is seeking to optimize their investment. In addition to donning one of the most famous and iconic names from the Canadian piano industry, this piano has a lot of musicality to offer its next owner.
