Product Overview
The Pearl River piano company has been ‘at it’ for over 6 decades now, and over that time, has established itself as the world’s largest piano manufacturer! Pearl River pianos are enjoyed in over 100 countries today, and are known around the world for their great ‘value for money’. The Pearl River factory produces several brands of pianos including Pearl River, Ritmueller, Kayserburg and a number of other names under OEM contracts
The EU131 is the tallest upright under the Pearl River name, and at 52” is considered a ‘concert size upright’. A 52” upright like the EU131 offers a larger acoustic assembly (longer strings, bigger soundboard than many baby grands, therefore making it a great option for advancing players who don’t have space for a grand. The EU31 is the newest model in the ‘European Series’ from Pearl River and has been very well received since replacing the EU122 as the line’s flagship model
As part of the ‘European Series’, the EU131 has been designed with the help of master European piano makers and includes many very desirable stylings such as: strategically positioned spruce backposts, maple hand notched bridges with maple bridge caps, German wire, imported German hammer felt and a soft close fallboard. This is an impressive list of feature on any piano, but especially one in the EU131s size and price range
Due to its size, Pearl River is able to maintain all manufacturing processes themselves without the need to outsource parts of the piano production to other factories. This allows pearl River to retain more control over their quality standards as well as any design changes/improvements that may come up
The beautiful 52” case on the EU131 by Pearl River comes in the very popular Ebony Polish finish and has brass hardware detailings from the logo down to the double caster wheels.
Action
Pearl River’s EU131 has a ‘standard weighted’ action and feels very even to play regardless of where on the piano you’re playing. Being that the piano’s 52” tall, the key stick lengths on the EU131 are longer than on any of the other Pearl River uprights, which will give musicians more control over each key
Tone
This piano puts out a tone quality/quantity which is similar to a baby grand piano. The EU131 gives the player a good amount of both colour and projection, so that no repertoire feels ‘off limits’. The EU131’s tone has many European influences and can be described as clear and resonant
Hammers
Pearl River keeps hammer manufacturing in-house, which most piano makers today can not claim. For the uprights in the European Series such as the EU131, they use imported German felt for the hammer
Soundboard
For the EU131 model, Pearl River puts an All Spruce Laminated Soundboard to both give the piano its wonderful tone and character, but also to protect that sound for decades to come
Cabinet
The cabinet on the EU131 Concert Upright Piano by Pearl River is very ‘up to date’ and features a beautiful ebony polish finish and brass hardware stylings, such as pedals, logo and wheels. This wonderful concert upright also has the ever handy ‘soft close fallboard’
