Product Overview

The Pearl River Piano Company has now been producing pianos for the past 6 decades, and in that time has earned the title of the world’s largest piano manufacturer. There are a number of different piano brands being produced at scale at the Pearl River factory in Guangzhou, China, but the model EU118S bears the ‘Pearl River’ logo on its fallboard.

Under the Pearl River name, there are three series: Tradition, European and Prestige, and the modern 46.5” EU118S belongs to the ‘European’ line. Pearl River works with European piano designers on this line of instruments with the goal of bringing a piano inspired by instruments from that part of the world to market at a friction of the price that they’re normally available at

The EU118S features some highly desirable features such as: laminated maple bridges with solid maple caps (bridges are hand notched), a 17 ply maple pinblock, German felt hammers, German Roslau wire as well as a soft close lid

Pearl River produces all of its own components ‘in-house’ to retain full control over their manufacturing standards, including the thousands of moving pieces in the piano’s action as well as the acoustic assembly

The EU118S model is 118 cm in height or 46.5”, and therefore a good size for small to medium sized rooms. The piano has ‘chrome’ hardware which makes it stand out and feel modern and is available in three excellent polished finishes: Ebony, Walnut and Mahogany

Action

Inside the EU118S, Pearl River puts an action made of spruce keys and built on an aluminum action rail. These actions are medium weighted and offer a nice touch for both beginners and advancing players

Tone

Pearl River’s EU118S Studio Upright piano has a pleasant and well balanced sound, which is suitable for various styles of music. This model has a clear and focused sound, very much in the style of European uprights

Hammers

The hammers on the EU118S are made in-house, which is not common in today’s piano industry, and use imported german felt for all of their European Series uprights

Into the EU118Ss, Pearl River installs their durable and resonant All Spruce Laminated Soundboards.

Cabinet

Cabinetry is one of the many areas that the EU118S by Pearl River Shines. Its logo, hardware, pedals and double caster wheels all have a chrome finish and the piano is available in three eye catching colours: Polished Ebony, Polished Mahogany and Polished Walnut
