Mason is one of the few limited production piano builders still remaining and along with Steinway and Sons is the only manufacture of pianos still left in North America. Since the early 1900’s the America piano industry was considered the best and most vibrant area for piano manufacturing. Top technicians from all over the world traveled to the US and Canada to study the art of fine piano building and Mason and Hamlin was one of the top factories.
Mason and Hamlin has always been known as the heaviest, best built grand and upright pianos in the world. By using the thickest, strongest, hard rock maple frames, and full perimeter plates on the Mason and Hamlin model 50 along with all grand piano model, these pianos have a longevity matched by no other manufacture. Some other unique desgin features on the Mason and Hamlin include the high performance carbon fiber action, tension resonator, and special method of fitting the pinblock to the frame and plate.
The Mason and Hamlin model 50 has been build for almost 100 years and is the only upright piano that Mason and Hamlin manufactures. At 460lbs the Mason and Hamlin model 50 is the heaviest 50″ upright piano in the world. This model along with the Steinway K52 are the last of the American made performance uprights and are both known for there exceptional bass.
