Feurich Pianos

HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

Another piano manufacturer with its roots tracing back to the city of Leipzig Germany, Feurich was founded in 1851 by Julius Gustav Feurich. Quickly gaining a reputation for quality, Feurich would grow to become one of the largest German pianos manufacturers by the turn of the century. Like almost every other German piano company, however, Feurich would be severely crippled during WWII, with their entire factory destroyed.

After re-establishing itself in West Germany after fleeing communist-controlled East Germany, Feurich would open another factory, though they would never again achieve the same levels of prosperity known previously.

After changing hands several times and multiple periods of inactivity, the Feurich family reacquired the family in the 1990s, built a new factory, and began producing pianos once again. In 2012, Feurich was sold to Austrian company Wendl & Lung.

Today, Feurich pianos are offered in two levels of quality. The entry-level models are manufactured and assembled in China by Hailun, whereas the mid-tier quality instruments utilize a combination of Chinese and Austrian manufacturing wherein the instrument’ strung backs are imported from China, but all other parts are European, with the assembly and factory preparation occurring in Austria as well.

Chinese produced upright pianos consist of the 45” 115 Premiere and the 48” 122 Universal. Feurich’s three grand piano offerings are entirely Chinese, with the 5’4” 162 Dynamic, 5’10” 179 Dynamic, and the 7’2” 218 Concert 1 making up the line.

Thus far, the Chinese/Austrian hybrid options consist of two uprights; the 48” 123 Vienna and the 52” 133 Concert. Both the Vienna and Concert uprights feature Feurich’s patented “KAMM Action”, which Feurich says allows for greater repetition speeds.
