Merriam & Ribfest
Merriam Music and the Burlington Ribfest (today known as Canada’s Largest Ribfest) have been collaborating since 2012, on bringing Burlington a unique musical offering to add to the festival. The Burlington Ribfest has always been known as one of the most musically-packed in North America, and the festival has traditionally erected two stages at Spencer Smith Park, crammed with bands from far and wide. However, the bands were typically of a traditional country & rock background.
The Jamfest has been able to introduce a wider and more diverse mix of musicians to the Ribfest offering, including jazz, R&B, pop, singer-songwriter, indie-rock, blues, and more. It has also become known as a major talent showcase for bands of all ages looking to perform for thousands of fans.

Spencer Smith Park
Spencer Smith Park is located on Burlington’s beautiful lakefront, and plays host to many events throughout the year. While the Burlington Ribfest is undoubtedly one of the two largest events the park hosts, there are many other events that the park welcomes each year.
Besides the Ribfest, the Burlington Beer Festival, the Sound Of Music Festival, winter skating, and the Memorial Waterfront Trail all call Spencer Smith home. So what makes the park so ideal for this type of mega-event?
The city of Burlington opened its much-touted waterfront project in 2006, with Spencer Smith Park being the centerpiece. It was a beautifully shaped and manicured strip of green space directly situated on the waterfront, separated from the water it’s beautiful boardwalk. With a variety of clearings, wide open spaces, unobstructed views of Lake Ontario, and good access from several major intersections in downtown Burlington, Spencer Smith was perfectly designed to host these types of week-long festivals, which makes it ideal for Canada’s Largest Ribfest!
