NAMM 2016 came and went, and so did the 2016 SHE Rocks Awards, a special award function hosted at NAMM, honoring the best female musicians for their contributions. The She Rocks Awards are hosted every year at NAMM, by the Women’s International Music Network WiMN. Founder, Laura B. Whitmore, had announced that this year was going to be one of their most spectacular events ever, with guest appearances by The Command Sisters, Jenna Paone, and MalinaMoye. There was also to be a special performance by house rock band Rock Sugah, featuring Benita Lewis, Divinity Roxx, Kat Dyson, and Lynette Williams.
Laura Whitmore’s Top 10 Reasons for anyone to Visit SHE Rocks Awards
NAMM is the biggest global music event that shadows all others, and is a melting pot of hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world, all of whom gather for the love of music. But with over a hundred free music events happening, why should you shell out money for an award ceremony? WiMN founder, Whitmore was so excited for the upcoming event that she compiled a list of ten reasons why you wouldn’t want to have missed this year’s She Rocks Awards, irrespective of the attendance fee:
- This is one of the most pro-level award events in the world that is dedicated especially to women and it’s only paid because it’s a paid production that offers a premium experience.
- It isn’t just an awards function – your admittance comes with complimentary meals, snacks, and other freebies. We feed you. Yep, food, treats, fun stuff. There are also a number of personal touches to make your experience a memorable one.
- The awards have been a sold out event every year, since the very first She Rocks Awards was hosted.
- If you’re part of the industry, the She Rocks Awards are meant to honor your peers, colleagues, and friends.
- You’ll be among some of the music industry’s most influential people and the opportunity to network with them can you invaluable returns. Work your way around the various social circles and you might even get in to one!
- With over 60,000 dollars-worth of inventory sold in the last year alone, the silent auction is not just unique, but all the proceeds go in to Girls Rock Camp Alliance and the NAMM Foundation, further spreading the joy and message of music. The goods being auctioned can include anything from costumes, head gear, music software, and even 80-track tapes. The silent auction is also known to fetch some killer deals.
- If you’re even remotely into music, you’re most likely to rub shoulders with music greats, retired, current and up-coming. The celebrity list of attendees includes the likes of Karmin, Chaka Khan, and so on. You have to be kidding yourself if you say that you don’t want to be in a room full of such people.
- It’s a platform for unrecognized talent to be recognized, for their priceless contribution to music and the industry. Your attendance is a sign of your support for them, and one should never underestimate the power of karma. It’s also what motivates them to do what they do!
- Unlike the other crowded free events at NAMM, The She Rocks Awards are sophisticated, with guaranteed seats and plenty to look at!
- If nothing else has convinced you, the fact that their goodies bag is probably worth the entire cost of your tickets alone should be enough reason to want to attend. Don’t believe it? Ask anyone who attended last year’s show.
