The esteemed Canadian pianist Robi Botos has granted a very lucky jazz club something seldom seen in the jazz world these days: a weekly residency. And to mark the occasion, Chalkers Pub, undoubtedly North Toronto’s premium jazz listening room, has purchased a new Shigeru Kawai grand piano. The much fabled piano was personally hand-picked by Don Thompson, another Canadian musical icon, while at Merriam Piano’s Oakville showroom in late 2011.
Mr. Botos’ playing is as urgent and exciting as it is mature, making him one of the most in-demand players in the North American jazz circuit. The Tuesday night engagement will continue throughout 2012, and interested listeners can visit www.chalkerspub.com for further information.
